We don’t usually get an opportunity to tell vendors that they did a great job. We seem to spend too much of our time bitching and complaining about how bad a job they are doing.
But recently Apple had their Developer support servers broken into and hacked. We dont really know to what extent the hacking was nor but it was bad enough that Apple had to shut down their Developer support servers for period of time.
Today we just got this message sent to use form the Apple Developer Support:
All Developer Program Services Are Now Back Online
We are pleased to let you know that all our developer program services are now online. Your patience during this time was sincerely appreciated.
We understand that the downtime was significant and apologize for any issues it may have caused in your app development. To help offset this disruption, we are extending the membership of all developer teams by one month. If you need any further assistance, please contact us.
Now I personally want to thank Apple for their professional approach, letting us know how and what was working and what was not and just keeping us informed as to when services would be restored. It was a delay that was not expected and maybe it delayed our submission of some games and apps by about one week but Apple did a great job.
There were frequent updates to let us know when certain services had been restored and when others were expected to be restored.
On a whole, it was a job well done.
We will find out in the near future what the real effects will be.
This also goes to show you that even the big and mighty like Apple are subject to attacks.
Tell us how you were affected by the Hacking of the Apple Developer Support? Was it just down or delayed time or did you experience other issues?
